INTRODUCTION
When joining Google, Android bots from Dead Zebra where coming out and I was a fan. The Google Analytics team had a custom one, they sat near me, and thought we should have one, we being Mobile Ads.
I made a two prong approach, I was friends with the marketing team and sat with them to secure sponsorship. If they agreed then we could fund the project. The other path was to work with Andrew Bell of Dead Zebra and figure out costs, minimums and process.
PROCESS
The production started with me creating some pencil sketches, and left Andrew Bell to productionize the drawings, since he knows better than me. Since this was for Google Mobile Ads/AdMob at Mobile World Congress, and MadMan was a popular show (that I liked) on TV. The goal was to have the Mad Man Android with their shirt sleeves rolled up.
He is also holding the just released Google Nexus 5.

OUTPUT/OUTCOME
This went into production and shipped before Chinese New Year and we received the boxes, of 10,000 boxed droids. I was able to distribute figures to each of the AdMob Engineering team, as well as the Ads UX team in NYC where I eventually relocated to.
LEARNINGS
Probably the most amazing, fun and fulfilling project I have done.
